The mount of Abu Qubais is adjacent to the Masjid Al Haram. And a very few people know that Jabal Abu Qubais holds significant value in Islam. First and foremost, fact is that Jabal Abu Qubais is the same mountain, where on the top of this mountain, the Prophet of Allah, Mohammad (SAW) did the miracle by the kind grace of Almighty Allah that he (SAW) pointed to the moon and it got split in two parts and also it is believed by some that Jabal Abu Qubais is the first mountain on earth created by Allah.
The mount of Abu Qubais is also known as ‘al-Amin’, an Arabic word meaning ‘the trustworthy’ when used to describe a person’s honorable character, but which can be understood to mean the ‘safe keeper’. This mountain is known for safeguarding is Black stone (Hazare E Aswad) for generations from the time of Nuh flood till the time of Ibrahim reconstruction of Kaaba.
According to Al-Tabari, Prophet Adam (peace be upon him) died at the foot of Jabal Abu Qubais and was subsequently buried there. Many other historical events are linked with Mount Abu Qubais.
Mount Abu Qubais is about 420 metres tall and is located in the city of Makkah. According to several narrations, Jabal Abu Qubais is also called “Magharat al-Kanz,” meaning the “Treasure Cave.” It is believed to be the mountain on which Adam (AS) stayed and was buried after his death and the peak that witnessed the miracle of Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) as he divided the moon into two halves and re-joined them once again on the demand of the disbelievers of Makkah.
